You need to complete approved alcohol server training if you work 10 or more hours per week serving alcohol for on-premises consumption in South Carolina, or if you are a manager who oversees alcohol service.
This generally applies to servers, bartenders, managers, permittees, licensees, and other employees who sell or serve alcohol for consumption at the licensed location.

South Carolina law requires approved online alcohol server training to be at least 4 hours long. Our course is self-paced, so you can move through the training on your own schedule, as long as you complete all required course material and the final test.

The course covers South Carolina alcohol laws, responsible service, intoxication, ID checking, refusal of service, underage drinking prevention, and other topics required for alcohol server certification.

You will need:
- A device with Wi-Fi or internet access (if you’re reading this right now, you’re good to go!)
- A valid email address
- A webcam and microphone for the proctored test
- A quiet place to take the final exam
- Your legal name, which should match the information used for your certificate
South Carolina requires online training and testing, and the final test must be monitored by an online proctor.

Yes. The course includes a final test that is proctored online. You must score 80% or higher to pass and complete the course.
If you do not pass the final exam, you can review the course and try again. You do not have to retake the full 4-hour course before trying again.
How do I get my certificate?
How do I get my certificate?
After you complete the course and pass the proctored final test, your successful completion will be reported to SCDOR. You will also receive a letter of completion for your records.
SCDOR issues the official South Carolina Alcohol Server Certificate. Once your certificate is available, you can download and keep a digital or printed copy for your records. Detailed instructions for getting your certificate will be emailed to you following your completion of the course.

Yes. Once you receive your official South Carolina Alcohol Server Certificate, keep a digital or printed copy available while you are working.
Your employer should also keep a copy of your certificate on file at the licensed location.

Your South Carolina Alcohol Server Certificate is valid for 3 years.
Before it expires, you will need to complete approved training again to stay certified. Returning customers may receive a discount!
