Yes, if you serve alcohol for on-premises consumption in South Carolina 10 or more hours a week, or manage that service. New hires without a current certificate must finish approved training within 30 calendar days.

From course to state certificate

    Finish the four-hour course

    Self-paced, in order, on any device. Stop and pick up later.

    Pass the proctored exam

    Proctored online through miniOrange. 80% to pass; retakes don't repeat the course.

    Get your LemonTree record

    Course-completion certificate and unique certificate number. We report your completion to SCDOR.

    Download your SCDOR certificate

    From SCDOR's portal with your name and certificate number. SCDOR says it should be available within two weeks.

Good to know: your LemonTree completion record is not the state certificate. SCDOR issues the official Alcohol Server Certificate, valid for three years, at no separate fee.

Quick answers

What do I need for the proctored exam?

A phone, tablet or computer with a working camera and microphone; allow access when asked. The exam is proctored through miniOrange. You may be asked for a quick face photo, and you'll need to stay on the exam screen until you finish.

What if I fail the exam?

Review the course and try again. Retakes are included and you don't repeat the four-hour course.

Is there a state fee on top of $39?

No. Under S.C. Code § 61-3-130(F), SCDOR doesn't charge qualifying applicants a separate certificate fee.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are limited and may not be available after you start the course or exam. Email support@lemontreetraining.com about a specific purchase.
